How we came to Wild Willowbrook Acres

The Story

It’s hard to know where to start, but the heart of Wild Willowbrook Acres began when my now husband and I reconnected. After life’s twists and turns, we somehow found our way back to each other. My young son and I moved into my husband’s childhood home. Shortly thereafter, our daughter was on the way, and it was clear we needed more space.

I contacted a childhood friend, Chris, who showed us many homes, but none of them felt right. After almost a year, we decided we would build onto my husband’s childhood home. There were so many great memories there, and we just needed a little extra room to make more.

We were almost ready to build onto our home when Chris sent me a link. I thought, Oh my goodness, I wonder what this could be. I opened it and thought, Wow, this place is amazing. It checks all the boxes. I sent it to my husband, and he didn’t talk to me for two days! Then, mid-morning on a Friday, he called and said, “If Chris can make it happen today, I want to go see this place.” My heart fluttered a little as I called Chris. He made it happen for us.

On a rainy Friday afternoon, we drove up the driveway for the first time and began dreaming about what life might bring us on that land — land that would change our lives forever.

I knew it was home the moment I saw the red brick, the porch swing, and the brook weaving through the property that had been lovingly named Wild Willowbrook Acres by the Mayberry family. Standing at the top of the hill, I imagined our children creating memories there — sledding, running, growing — and somehow those memories already felt real.

The next month was a crazy blur of paperwork, signatures, boxes, and packing tape. My husband and I knew this was one of those moments you look back on later and say, “God had His hand all over that.” It never could have happened without Him. We knew this was a place we had been given to do His work — to dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

We moved in during what felt like the hottest days of 2024. Friends and family came and sweated alongside us, helping build our dreams and settle us into what quickly became home. To repay the love that was given to us, I started cooking from scratch, learning as I went, and sharing what I made. The little extras — the surplus — I gave away to friends and family.

Many of them told me I should sell it, that I should start a business. I thought they were a little crazy… and then I thought maybe I was a little crazy too. Because in September 2025, my husband and I stepped out in faith and made Wild Willowbrook Acres an official business.

The Things That Come From Our Farm

At Wild Willowbrook Acres, we make a lot of things — and we grow a lot of things too.

Every single item that comes from our farm carries a story. A reason. A purpose. A little piece of our family woven into it.

We feel so incredibly blessed to share what we create with our family, friends, and community. So much of our body care and home care line was born from a simple need — we wanted clean, affordable products that were safe to use in our own home and on our own bodies.

Our daughter and I both have multiple allergies, and after countless rounds of trial and error with “clean” products that didn’t quite work for us, we realized something… it was simpler, healthier, and more affordable to just make them ourselves.

What started as necessity became passion.

What started as experimenting at our kitchen table became something we now get to share with you.

Our goal has never been to make a million dollars.

Our goal is to share honest, thoughtfully made products — and the love behind them — so everyone can enjoy them.

Because here…

Where Love Grows Wild

All The Things

I’ll never forget the day I told some coworkers that my husband and I bought a Christmas tree farm.

They looked at me and said,

“Oh my gosh… it’s like a Hallmark movie!”

And honestly?

Shockingly… yes. It really is.

We really do sell Christmas trees 🌲

And every season feels a little magical around here.

But beyond the trees, I’ve always had a deep passion for growing things. We also offer seasonal produce because putting food on the table — real food — has always mattered to me.

I grew up in a home where living off the land wasn’t trendy… it was what we could afford. I can still remember the sticky kitchen floors after long days of canning peaches. The jars lined up on the counters. The hard work. The reward.

If you ask my friends, though, they’ll probably laugh and tell you that Kim hates to can produce. And they wouldn’t be wrong.

So instead of buying a new canner…

I bought a freeze dryer.

Now we freeze-dry our extra produce, leftovers, and healthy snacks for our family. It allows us to preserve what we grow without waste — and without spending days over a hot stove.

I still can a few special things for our own home…

but those stay on our shelves.

Everything we do here comes from our story — from where we started, and from the life we’re building now.

It may sound like a Hallmark movie…

but it’s our real life. 💚
